The redevelopment area has a total surface of approximately 3.700 sq.m. and it is located on the beach of the local community of Kalyves. The Kalyves Elementary School serves approximately 200 children and the auditoriums as well as some buildings are open for afternoon activities . The study aims at the complete reformation of the school yards in order to radically change the overall image and function of the area.
The main objectives of the study are:
To organize a playground for older children as there is already a playground for infants.
To redesign the yards in order to include two distinctive athletic areas sports, sitting spaces, open classrooms and protected waiting area.
To apply bioclimatic principles by increasing the planting, shading, new materials and in relation to the optimal orientation of the new spaces.
